Accounting Officer
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Church Administration, the Accounting Officer is responsible for: evaluating and monitoring all the accounting records and systems ensuring efficiency and accuracy in the recording and accounting of all financial transactions for the Church; preparing operating budgets and required financial statements/reports as per approved standards and schedules, in consultation with the Church Treasurer.
Major responsibilities are to:

Ensure the proper recording and accounting of all financial transactions for the Church in accordance with standard accounting procedures;

Monitor and evaluate all the accounting records and systems to ensure adequate controls, efficiency and accuracy(manual/online);

Reconcile monthly bank statements for all the accounts;

Reconcile weekly lodgments against receipts;

Prepare monthly and annual statutory returns and submit these within the due dates;

Prepare monthly financial reports/statements by the due date and any special financial information/analysis requested by the Finance Committee/Pastor.
SKILLS, KNOWLEGDE AND EXPERTISE

ACCA – Level 1/ Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent qualification.
with a least two 2 years accounting experience in a similar position.

Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Proficiency in the use of relevant computer applications (i.e., Quick books, Payroll systems, Excel, Microsoft Word).

Good Communication Skills (oral and written formats)

Good interpersonal skills

Excellent records management

Working knowledge of salary/payroll administration,
