Bereavement Ministry

There was a desire from some bereaved sisters as to how they could come together to comfort and share with persons who had lost their spouses or family members. With this in mind, the “Bereavement Ministry” was launched on April 20, 2014 with the dedication of thirteen members, ten sisters and three brothers, by Reverend Dr. Devon

Dick.

The B.B.C.B..M is an arm of the Mission and Evangelism Committee and works in con-junction with the church counseling and health and wellness ministries. The members seek to extend concern and support, for persons who have experienced the death of a loved one, or family member. As a support group we empathize with them during

their time of grief.

Our objectives are:

1. To help the grieving family or individual understand what the Bible says about someone who dies and was a Christian. 1st Thessalonians 4: vs. 13-18.

2. To help strengthen and restore the grieving family, or person, back to a relatively normal way of life, as far,

as is possible as they go through the various stages of grief.

3. To help the family or individual bear the grieving process as best as possible, with follow-up visits, prayer,

telephone calls, counseling and to be a part of the support group.

Our Mission:

Under God’s guidance, this Ministry aims to assist bereaved members of the Boulevard Baptist Church and their families to go through the grieving period, assured that there are persons who have had similar experience, and empathize with them, through Christ comfort and love.

2nd Corinthians 1: 3-5.

Support Group:

This is a means to connect widows, widowers and other persons who have recently lost a loved one. They are welcome to be a part of the ministry. Meetings are held each fourth Sunday bi-monthly, after the mornings service downstairs the Luther Gibbs center. Activities include talks on topics of health and wellness, Legal matters; financial matters Bible quiz and open discussions.

Fund raising events/ Social events:

The ministry raises funds through our annual muggy morning breakfast, sale of snacks, water and soft drink at funerals. Our social events are the annual anniversary and Christmas socials. These are held in April and December of each year.
